19th "Giochi e Ritorni" Open

A.S.D. Club 64 Modena, under the aegis of the FSI Emilia-Romagna Regional Committee, organises the evening tournament "Giochi e Ritorni", now in its nineteenth edition: a single open, valid for FSI and FIDE Elo rating changes under the regulations in force.

It is played at the club, Via Salvo D'Acquisto 161 in Modena, over six Thursday evenings from 29 October to 3 December 2026, with rounds starting at 20:30.

The time control is 90 minutes per player to finish, with a 30-second increment from move one. The tournament runs over 6 rounds with Swiss-system pairings; ties are broken by Buchholz Cut 1, then full Buchholz, then ARO. Pairings become final 48 hours before the round they belong to, and a player who reaches the board more than 60 minutes after the start time loses the game.

The tournament is open to players holding an FSI competition or junior card valid for 2026; anyone without one may take one out at the venue before play begins. The entry fee is 35 euro, 30 euro for Under 16. Pre-entry is on VeSuS, no later than 28 October 2026; entries must be confirmed at the playing venue by 20:15 on 29 October 2026.

Prizes: ham and wine for the winner, 2 kg of Parmigiano and wine for the runner-up, salami and wine for third; salami and wine for the first player in the 1700-1899 and 1500-1699 rating bands; prizes for the first and second Under 16. Prizes cannot be combined, and the prize-giving follows the last round.

Anything the bando does not cover is governed by the federal technical regulations. Smoking and mobile phones are not allowed in the playing hall. The organisers reserve the right to make changes for the good running of the tournament.
