Chess Marathon "Graziano Ballista Memorial"

The Club 64 A.S.D. chess club of Modena is pleased to announce the organisation of the Chess Marathon "Graziano Ballista Memorial", a competition of skill and endurance dedicated to the memory of our late member and arbiter, who recently passed away and who organised the first rated blitz marathon in Italy in 2020.

The time control will be 3 minutes each + 2 seconds per move and the tournament will be played over 79 consecutive rounds in a round-robin format with 80 players. The tournament is open to all players and will not be rated for FIDE Elo changes.

First round start: Saturday 10 February 2024 at 10:00, with one-hour breaks for lunch and dinner. There will be some coffee breaks at the organisers' discretion.

Tournament entry fee: € 55 (with possible additions for meals as per the announcement). For overnight accommodation, contact the "Villa di Là" farmhouse or the Domus hotel in Maranello (€ 55 single, € 35 double, € 30 triple and € 25 quadruple) and specify "marathon player"; availability is subject to rooms remaining.

Entry to the Marathon will be confirmed upon payment of the entry fee directly to the organisers or by bank transfer, stating in the reference the player's first name and surname and the wording "Maratona Graziano Ballista", to:

(in the name of A.S.D. Club 64), no later than 28 January 2024. After that date, only reserve entries will be accepted to replace any withdrawals.
