59-round Chess Marathon

The Circolo Scacchistico A. S. D. Club 64 of Modena is pleased to announce the organization of the "59-round Chess Marathon", a test of skill and endurance, and a tournament rated for FIDE Blitz Elo changes.

The time control will be 3 minutes each + 2 seconds per move, and the tournament will be played over 59 consecutive rounds in a round-robin format with 60 players.

Start of the first round: Saturday 1 February 2020 at 10:00, with two-hour breaks for lunch and dinner. There will be some coffee breaks at the organizers' discretion.

Tournament entry fee: € 40 (with possible additions for meals as per the tournament announcement). For overnight accommodation, contact the Hotel Due Pini in Formigine (30 €/person in a double room, 50 € single) at 059 572 697 and specify "marathon player"; availability is subject to rooms running out.

Mandatory online pre-registration from the website www.club64.it or by e-mail at info@club64.it, or by calling 333 341 9934 (Francesco) or 339 285 2986 (Adriano), until the available places (60) are filled.

Registration for the Marathon will be confirmed upon payment of the entry fee by bank transfer, stating in the payment reference the player's first and last name and the wording "Maratona 2020":

(in the name of A. S. D. Club 64) no later than 15 January 2020. After that date, only conditional registrations will be accepted, to replace any withdrawals.

The tournament is open to players (over 12 years old) holding an FSI Ordinary or Junior membership card valid for 2020. Those without one must purchase it before the start of the competition. For minors, a release form from parents or legal guardians is mandatory.
