CIA Regional Championship and collateral Youth Tournament

From 22 to 25 April the 20th edition of the Emilia-Romagna Regional Championship (quarter-final
of the Italian Absolute Championship) was held in S.Marino di Bentivoglio (BO) with the participation of 62 players.
MF Maurizio Brancaleoni of Rimini is crowned 2017 Regional Champion with 6.5 points out of 7.
He is followed in order, with 5.5 points, by Maurizio Foglia, Artem Gilevych and the under 16 CM from Imola Pietro Mirri.
2017 Regional Women's Champion is the under 16 - 1st N. - Lara Scagliarini of Ferrara (4 points).
In parallel, with 20 participants, the classical youth tournament reserved for under 16s was held, a tournament
valid for qualification to the CIGU16 final and for Elo rating changes. The final standings over 5 rounds see in the top places
three players with 4 points. Andrea Frusteri (BO) prevails on tie-break over Paolo Bianco (BO) and Francesco Gazzotti (MO).
The playing venue, which hosted the Regional Championship for the fifth year in a row, was once again much appreciated.
