Walter Paoli is 2020 Modena Provincial Champion!

From 13 to 15 December the 2020 Modena Provincial Championship took place, again this year dedicated to the memory of our member and friend Mario Viola.
After five very hard-fought rounds, CM Walter Paoli (4.5 points out of 5) becomes 2020 Provincial Champion, followed by CM Luca Tazzioli (4/5) and FM Gabriele Franchini (4/5). The band prizes go to Samuel Barbari (3/5) and CM Sergio Garofalo (2.5/5).
Remarkable presence of young and very young players: the U16s made up 50% of the participants (9 out of 18). The youngsters 1N Enrico Giuntini, Samuel Barbari, 1N Samuele Mammi and 3N Maria Vittoria Galli qualify for the 2020 Regional Championship (valid as Quarter-finals of the Italian Absolute Championship).
Particularly notable are the performances of Walter Paoli and Samuel Barbari, who record Elo coefficients of 1.48 and 1.21, respectively.
Club 64 thanks the arbiters Luciano Panini and Lorenzo Rosa for the availability and competence shown in running the tournament.
