Great success for the "Sestola Regina degli Scacchi" Tournament!

Last weekend the "Sestola Regina degli Scacchi" tournament was played with excellent results; organised by Club 64 under the patronage of the Municipality of Sestola, for three days it turned the "pearl" of our Apennines into an international stage for the noble game.
The event saw the participation of 112 players from all over Europe, divided into three tournaments A, B and C according to playing strength, who competed over five rounds for the rich prize fund. The games on the top two boards were broadcast live on the Internet thanks to the electronic boards made by the Bologna company Certabo, whom we thank for their collaboration.
A high technical level for tournament A (4 GM, 5 IM, 4 FM), won by GM Danyyil Dvirnyy (4/5), multiple Italian individual and team champion and a pillar of our Olympiad team, followed by the Ukrainian GM Dmitry Stets (4/5) and the Serbians IM Gojko Laketic (3.5/5) and GM Miroljub Lazic (3.5/5). Among the female players our IM Olga Zimina (3.5/5) comes out on top, and the performance of CM Riccardo Dionigi (3/5), who records an Elo coefficient of 1.30, is worth noting.
A hard-fought finish in tournament B, where the Modena player 1N Andrea Sacchetti (4.5/5) prevails by only half a tie-break point over the strong Russian player Anastasia Solovyova (4.5/5), followed by 1N Marco Tazzini (4/5) and CM Giorgio Modena (4/5).
A large presence of youngsters in tournament C, won by Davide Sangiovanni (4.5/5), followed by Stella Celati (4/5), Sofia Marinelli (3.5/5) and Stefano Esposti (3.5/5).
The event aroused keen interest in the media, with the TRC Modena news programme producing and broadcasting a report on the tournament, available online on the appenninonews.it website
