Chess tournament “Checkmate to marginalisation and prejudice”

On 1 September an important fundraiser will be held in Marano sul Panaro, promoted by the Leo Club Vignola Domini Estensi and the Lions Club Vignola e Castelli Medievali in support of the Associazione Magicamente Liberi, which promoted the project “Coabitare per l’autonomia” to foster the social and housing independence of people with different abilities, increasing confidence in their own abilities and improving self-esteem.
The event, open to everyone, will begin at 14:00 at the Chiosco delle Bocce in Via I° Maggio in Marano Sul Panaro and will be divided into two parts. In the first, an exciting chess tournament will take place, organised in collaboration with Club 64 A.S.D. Scacchi Modena, with several skilled players from all over the province taking part.
At the end of the tournament a convivial event with Crescentine and Gnocco Fritto is planned; the entire proceeds of the day will go to fund the project “Coabitare per l’autonomia”. In case of bad weather both events will be moved to the premises of Tutti insieme con Gioia in viale Gramsci (near the football pitch).
In concrete terms, the project aims to create, in collaboration with public bodies and voluntary associations, housing units to allow these people to experience living together independently.
