XXII Cesenatico-RomagnaBanca Festival
The XXII Cesenatico-RomagnaBanca Festival, organised by Tosca Proietti and Giulio Calavalle of the Circolo Scacchistico Bolognese, took place from 1 to 9 September 2018.
128 players took part in the three tournaments, including 3 Club64 youngsters, who distinguished themselves in their categories.
In Open C, with an excellent performance of 7 points out of 9, the very young U10 Ottavio Mammi took 2nd place overall, level on points with the 1st-placed player (U14 Francesco Bortolotti), scoring 4.77K and routing players more highly rated and experienced than himself.
In the hard-fought and very crowded Open B, among the 62 participants, Alessandro Angeli placed well: with a performance of 4.5 points out of 9 he reached a remarkable 25th place, first among the 3Ns, earning 3rd place in the 1500-1649 band.
A good performance too by Samuele Mammi, who with 4 points took an honourable 43rd place.
All in the setting of an enchanting week of sun and sea.
