6th free Soliera rapid open 8' + 3'' concluded
The Soliera friendly tournament, now in its 6th edition, has concluded; this year it saw its record participation with 61 players, 17 of them U14.
Great turnout from Soliera residents, a sign that the chess outreach activities are starting to bear fruit
Initially we had thought of holding 2 separate tournaments, but given the level of play of the kids we thought a single full open could easily be held, and the results of the youngest proved us right.
Heartfelt thanks go to the German delegation from Schwerin who, being in the area, wanted to delight us with their company; we thank the Arci premises, in the person of Manuel Carabbs, who provided us not only with the hall and the prizes to promote the game of chess but also with considerable support throughout the event.
I apologise to everyone, as arbiter and organiser, for not having foreseen such a large turnout and for having forgotten the printer, which made reading the pairings considerably more complicated. Next time I will try to do better.
I wanted to let you know that this kind of tournament gives us organisers a lot of satisfaction, since a festive atmosphere is created that in the end allows us to get to know each other better and better and make friends with both the players and their companions.
