Club 64 youngsters in 4 schools at the top of the Regional TSS
The regional school team chess championships, organised by the Club Scacchistico Estense, concluded on Saturday 1 April in Ferrara. The tournament, which included 5-6 rounds of 30 minutes, gathered 31 teams from schools in Emilia Romagna: 17 mixed Primary school teams, 3 girls' Primary school teams, 3 lower secondary school Ragazzi teams (1st year classes only), 6 lower secondary school Cadetti teams (2nd and 3rd year classes) and 2 upper secondary school teams, for a total of 135 boys and girls. The tournament arbiters were Renzo Renier, Marcos Vergara and Fabrizio Ballotti. The mixed Primary category was won, with 9 points out of 10 and 17.5 board points out of 20, by the Palestrina school of Modena, fielding: Matteo Ballotti, Silvia Giuntini, Alessio Santoro, Jonian Hodo and Riccardo Mocanu, after a head-to-head until the last round with the runners-up on equal points but with 15.5 board points out of 20, the Begarelli school of S.Damaso, in which the following played: Alberto Vergara, Leonardo Carrara, Fabio Ghinelli, Riccardo Serradimigni, Lorenzo Ombelli and Diego Parlato, while the brand-new primary school team of I.C. Carpi 2, with: Samuele Mammi, Ottavio Mammi, Pietro Setti and Leonardo Caliumi, finished fifth with 6 points out of 10 and 11 board points out of 20. In the lower secondary school Cadetti category, with 10 points out of 10 and 19 board points out of 20, the strong youngsters of the Ferraris school won: Luca Ballotti, Enrico Giuntini, Dionis Hodo, Roberto Mocanu and Simone Santoro, who had already been protagonists, together with Isacco Faglioni and Dario Vergara, of the Club64 Reloaded team's promotion to Serie C last weekend. Thanks to these results, the teams of the Palestrina and Begarelli primary schools and of the Ferraris lower secondary school have qualified for the national final of the school team chess championship, scheduled in Montesilvano from 4 to 7 May 2017 (http://www.fideacademy.com/trofeo-scuola/).
