The regional champions of the CIS U16 team championship
On Sunday 18 September 2016 the regional phase of the Italian Under 16 Team Championship took place, with qualification for the national phase in Andria, from 3 to 6 November 2016, at stake. Under the event's national regulations, three separate tournaments were played: U14/U16 (5 teams, 5 rounds), U12 (5 teams, 5 rounds) and U10 (4 teams, 6 rounds). Good participation in the event, with 14 teams in total representing Club 64 of Modena (5 teams), Circolo Scacchistico Bolognese (2 teams), Chess & Life of Modena (4 teams) and CS Estense of Ferrara (3 teams). The time control was 30 minutes each. Under the national regulations, with 3 separate tournaments, the top 2 finishers in each tournament earned qualification for the national final. Qualification was won by CSB of Bologna (1st) and Club 64's Super 16 (2nd) in the U14/U16 tournament, by Chess & Life (1st) and Le Quattro Torri of CSE Ferrara (2nd) in the U12 tournament and by Chess & Life (1st) and Club 64's Super 10 (2nd) in the U10 tournament.
