CM Walter Paoli 2017 provincial champion

Candidate Master Walter Paoli wins the Modena absolute provincial championship for the second time and is crowned 2017 provincial champion. An excellent performance by the winner (performance of 2191 Elo points), who finished the tournament undefeated with 4.5 points out of 5. Second place went to last year's provincial champion, the young Candidate Master Riccardo Dionigi (who finished with 4 points), who is crowned provincial vice-champion. Third overall on tie-break was the very young Isacco Faglioni (born 2000), the protagonist of an excellent tournament (4 points out of 4 in the 4 games played). Fourth overall was a loyal regular of the tournament, CM Giorgio Modena (4 points). In addition to the candidate masters already qualified by right, those qualified from the province of Modena for the 2017 absolute regional championship are Isacco Faglioni, Lorenzo Viola, Emilia Cassanelli, Walter Maran, Giovanni De Fazio and Enrico Giuntini. The 2017 edition of the Provincial Championship was dedicated for the fourth time to the memory of our friend Mario Viola, who won this tournament in 2004. The Modena provincial championship will be dedicated to his memory in future editions as well. His daughter Sara and his wife Lina attended the Christmas party on Saturday 17 December.
