CM Stefano Vezzani wins the 9th Giochi e Ritorni Open

Candidate Master Stefano Vezzani wins the traditional Giochi e Ritorni Open 2016 of Club 64. An all-time participation record for the 2016 edition, which recorded no fewer than 33 participants in total (+7 compared to the previous edition), including many under-16s from Modena. Vezzani finished the tournament with 5 points out of 6. Second overall (only on tie-break), a surprise and the protagonist of a great tournament, was one of the youngest participants, the very young Luca Ballotti (born 2004), who virtually earns the Prima Nazionale category (congratulations!). Rounding out the podium, half a point behind (4.5 out of 6), was the young Isacco Faglioni. Excellent news, then, from Modena's youth nursery, with 2 under-16s on the podium in a tournament historically dominated by adult and master-level players. The rating band prizes went to Marco Solimè (1700-1900 with 3.5 points), Riccardo Zincani (1500-1700 with 4 points) and Luigi Vaccari (band below 1500 with 3 points). The good number of participants prompted the organisers to extend the prizes provided for in the announcement. Prizes were therefore also awarded to the 4th overall (Roberto Setti), the 5th overall (Vincenzo Magagnini) and the runners-up in each band (Carlo Bocceda, Andrea Boasso and Sergio Rossi). 2 extra cups, beyond the announcement, were also provided for the top 2 under-16s in the standings: Luca Ballotti and Isacco Faglioni. A special prize in kind also went to the best game of the tournament, which was awarded to Isacco Faglioni (for Zincani - Faglioni from the 1st round).
