The 2015 Modena U16 provincial champions
On Sunday 22 March 2015 the Modena provincial phase of the Italian Youth Chess Championship took place at the Guglielmo Marconi primary school in Castelfranco Emilia (MO). Excellent overall participation in the event, which with its 78 players in total recorded the highest attendance of recent years. The provincial champions are: Silvia Giuntini (U8-F), Matteo Ballotti (U8-M), Sofia Marinelli (U10-F), Alessandro Pavesi (U10-M), Anastasia Sfera (U12-F), Luca Ballotti (U12-M), Serena Marseglia (U14-F), Francesco Cioni (U14-M), Isacco Faglioni (U16-M). Thanks to arbiters Luciano Panini, Antonio Sfera and Graziano Ballista and to helpers Gian Marco Marinelli, Mattia Sfera, Luigi Di Trapani and Paolo Pavesi for their help and the full success of the event. Heartfelt thanks also to the 2 sponsors of the event, who made an important contribution to the prizes for the young chess players: the Dotti Giovanni pastry shop and the Casa del Caffè bar in Castelfranco. Please note that all youngsters holding at least the Third National category are qualified by right for the national finals. Those who did not manage to qualify for the national final will have another important opportunity at the absolute regional championship in Occhiobello (FE) on 1 May. Congratulations to all the participants, to the winners and to those qualified for the national final in Montesilvano (28 June - 5 July).
