Record participation at the CIS U16 regional
On Sunday 20 September 2015 the regional phase of the Italian Under 16 Team Championship took place, with qualification for the national phase in Rivarolo Canavese (TO), from 29 October to 1 November 2015, at stake. Under the event's new national regulations, three separate tournaments were played: U16 (6 teams, 5 rounds), U12 (4 teams, 6 rounds) and U10 (6 teams, 5 rounds). The event's participation record was beaten, with 16 teams in total representing Club 64 of Modena (6 teams), Circolo Scacchistico Bolognese (5 teams), Chess & Life of Modena (3 teams) and CS Estense of Ferrara (2 teams). The time control was 30 minutes each. Under the national regulations, with 3 separate tournaments, the top 2 finishers in each tournament earned qualification for the national final. Qualification was won by CSB Old Boys of Bologna (1st) and Club 64's Super 16 (2nd) in the U16 tournament, by Chess & Life B (1st) and Club 64's Super 12 (2nd) in the U12 tournament and by Ferrara 2 (1st) and CSB Pulcini of Bologna (2nd) in the U10 tournament. Heartfelt thanks to the many volunteers present during the day for the success of the event (arbiters Angelo Mancini, Antonio Sfera and Graziano Ballista, helpers Luigi Di Trapani and Mattia Sfera, and the many volunteers in the kitchen who made possible a lunch with almost 90 covers). Thanks also to Chess & Life, which kindly offered a magnificent cake with the Club 64 and Chess & Life logos, particularly appreciated by young and old at the end of the tournament.
