IM Paolo Vezzosi wins the blitz mini-marathon
International Master Paolo Vezzosi from Parma triumphed in the 20-round blitz mini-marathon of Saturday 14 March. Second, just half a point behind, was the Bologna FIDE Master Daniele Taruffi, reappearing at an official chess event after a long absence. Third overall, after an excellent tournament (the only unbeaten player), was FIDE Master Gabriele Franchini with 16 points out of 20. CM Vincenzo Adinolfi won the 2000-2200 band prize, CM Marco Benincasa won the 1800-2000 band, Valerii Nasonkin won the 1600-1800 band, Lorenzo Viola won the 1450-1600 band and Gian Carlo Barbieri won the band below 1450 Elo points. Overall participation in the event was very strong, with 30 players in total, confirming that blitz chess is always much appreciated by chess players. The level of play was also very high, with no fewer than 15 of the 30 players being titled or of master level. Thanks to all the participants for the excellent success of the event and to arbiter Graziano Ballista for his impeccable arbiting.
