CM Riccardo Dionigi 2016 provincial champion

The young Candidate Master Riccardo Dionigi won the Modena absolute provincial championship and is, for the first time, the 2016 provincial champion. An excellent performance by Riccardo (performance of 2251 Elo points), who finished the tournament unbeaten with 4.5 points out of 5. Second was last year's provincial champion, Candidate Master Marco Vincenzi (who finished with 4 points), who is the provincial vice-champion. Third overall on tie-break was Candidate Master Giorgio Modena, who, as last year, had an excellent tournament. In addition to the candidate masters already qualified by right, those qualified from the province of Modena for the 2016 absolute regional championship are Roberto Setti, Andrea Sacchetti, Isacco Faglioni, Cesare Wang and Walter Maran. The 2016 edition of the Provincial Championship was dedicated for the third time to the memory of our friend Mario Viola, who won this tournament in 2004. The Modena provincial championship will be dedicated to his memory in future editions too. As last year, his daughter Sara and his wife Lina attended the prize-giving ceremony.
