Club 64 at the European Club Championship
Only a few hours to go before the Chess Champions League, which for the first time will see a line-up from Modena taking part. WorldTradingLab Club 64, by virtue of its second place at the national team championships - Master series - in Civitanova Marche, earned qualification for this prestigious European showcase. The expedition will be made up of all the regular players who brought about the success in Civitanova: GM Dariusz Swiercz, GM Sabino Brunello, GM Lexy Ortega, IM Carlo D'Amore and IM Guido Caprio. The group is completed by the home chess players FM Gabriele Franchini and CM Fabrizio Frigieri, who, in addition to their traditional roles as sponsor, captain and team leaders, will also be engaged on board six as players. The Italian contingent will also include the reigning champions from Padua, the Scacchistica Palermitana and the women's team from Chieti, which fields WGM Olga Zimina on board two. Club 64 will start as number 13 in the starting ranking and will try to play a leading role among the second-tier teams. We are all allowed to dream of a final placing among the top 10 in Europe. Follow the event in numbers; it will be played in Skopje (Macedonia) from 17 to 24 October. Whatever the final result, Club 64 has already won its tournament. Good luck, guys!
