Roberto Setti wins the 2014 San Geminiano Rapid

A great success in terms of participation for the second San Geminiano Rapid Open 2014, which saw 24 players take part, including several of master category. The time control was particularly appreciated, giving 25 minutes each to complete the game plus a three-second increment per move. 1N Roberto Setti surprisingly wins the tournament, finishing unbeaten with 4.5 points out of 5. Decisive for Setti's win was the hard-fought last-round draw between CM Frigieri (second in the final standings with 4 points) and FM Luciani from Verona (4 points, third on tie-break), who complete the podium. An excellent tournament for 1N Alfo Rossi, who wins the 1600-1800 band prize and finishes in fourth place with 4 points out of 5, leaving several master-category players behind him. First in the 1800-2000 band CM Giorgio Modena and first in the 1400-1600 band the young Cesare Wang.
