More great satisfaction from the 2014 CIS
After the excellent results achieved in the gatherings in Acqui Terme (group A1.1) and Levizzano Rangone (groups B7 and C13), more important results arrive from groups C14 and Promozione ER2, which were played on the traditional calendar and ended on Sunday 6 April. The Young Boys team, made up of the Venturelli brothers, the Trenti brothers, Isacco Faglioni and Cesare Wang, dominated the ER2 promotion group, winning all their matches, and achieved a thoroughly deserved promotion to Serie C, where in 2015 the youngsters will be able to test themselves against higher-level opponents. The very young players of Club 64 Giovani were also competing in the same group, and gained important experience playing demanding classical games. In group C14, after a "muted" start (4 consecutive draws), the long-standing Pro Modena (captain Franchini, Paoli, Benincasa, Marinelli, Garofalo, Lapenna M.) won the last match 3-1 (which was still decisive for safety) and secured an excellent second place overall, behind the pre-tournament favourite Rimini. A pity for the many chances missed in the first matches; with a few more favourable results, promotion to Serie B was within reach. Second place overall nevertheless guarantees the possibility of being repechaged into Serie B in 2015. Congratulations to all the players competing in the Italian Team Championship, which has always been dear to the association's many members. We obviously hope that great news will also come from the eagerly awaited final stage of this 2014 CIS: the Master final in Condino (TN), which from 30 April to 4 May will see the strongest team Club 64 has ever fielded in the CIS in action.
