Master Lapenna wins the 12th stage and takes the 2014 Lampi Estivi circuit

The twelfth and final stage of the 2014 Lampi Estivi, held in Modena, recorded a record attendance of 28 players, no fewer than 11 of them of master level. The tournament was won on tie-break by Master Antonio Lapenna, who finished with 8 points out of 10. Second was Woman Grandmaster Olga Zimina (8) and third Master Giuseppe Coratella from Verona (8). Fabrizio Frigieri won the 2000-2200 band, Marco Benincasa the 1800-2000 band, Francescantonio Buccella the 1600-1800 band, Paolo Pavesi the 1450-1600 band and Marcello Roncaglia the band below 1450. At the end of the evening the final prize-giving of the 2014 circuit was also held; the circuit was dominated by Master Antonio Lapenna, who totalled 76 final points with an average of 8.8 points per tournament. Second overall was FIDE Master Valerio Luciani from Verona (67.5 in total), just half a point ahead of the third overall, Master Giuseppe Coratella from Verona. The category prizes were won by Master Barillaro (53 points) in the 2000-2200 band, by CM Benincasa (46.5 points) in the 1800-2000 band, by 2N Buccella (34 points) in the 1600-1800 band, by NC Fiore (36 points) in the 1450-1600 band and by NC Maletti (31 points) in the band below 1450 points. The 2014 blitz circuit recorded a total of 239 attendances, with an average of 19.9 players per tournament.
