FM Luciani dominates the last stage and the overall 2014 TDT circuit

The eighth and last stage of the Torneo dei Tanti 2014 in Modena recorded an all-time participation record, with 21 players present in total, 8 of them of master category. A final stage dominated by FIDE Master Valerio Luciani, who after 2 evenings' absence wins his fourth tournament of the circuit with a perfect score of 6 points out of 6. Second place for the highly inspired Candidate Master Sergio Garofalo, who closes the circuit with a memorable performance, scoring 5 points out of 6. Third place with 4.5 points for Candidate Master Marco Vincenzi. Roberto Setti wins the 1N-2N prize and Simone Cattini the 3N-NC one. The eighth stage did not change the podium of the overall standings, which sees FM Valerio Luciani triumph in the 2014 TDT with a monstrous 29 out of 30. Completing the podium are CM Frigieri (2nd overall with 24 points) and CM Walter Paoli (3rd overall with 22 points). Thanks to all the devotees of the by-now traditional Torneo dei Tanti (now in its eleventh edition), which in 2014 recorded 117 total entries in the 8 tournaments played, with an average of 14.6 players per evening.
