FM Andrea Malfagia wins the 13th Vignola weekend tournament

The 13th "Città di Vignola" weekend festival ended on Sunday 16 November. The total number of participants was slightly higher than in the 2013 edition (53 players between tournament A and tournament B), proof that the traditional mid-November weekend has by now carved out a role of prime importance among the Region's annual events. In tournament A FIDE Master Andrea Malfagia from Bologna, a devotee of the tournament and already winner of numerous editions in the past, triumphed with 4.5 points out of 5. Second overall the young home CM Davide Di Trapani (4 points), ahead of CM Orazio Guanciale of Viterbo (3.5 points). In tournament B Alessandro Biacchi prevailed on tie-break, ahead of Pier Francesco Sica from Grosseto and Francesco Debbi, all three with 4 points out of 5. Sincere thanks to the Laghetto dei Ciliegi, which has hosted the tournament for years, providing an excellent and comfortable playing hall. Thanks also to the impeccable and ever-present arbiters Angelo Mancini, Antonio Sfera and Graziano Ballista.
