Candidate Master Fabrizio Frigieri finished 3rd overall in Open A of the Nichelino International Festival, which comprised three different tournaments. The tournament was dominated by IM Kenneth Solomon, the top seed. Frigieri finished with 3.5 points out of 5 (performance of 2272 Elo points), losing to the number one in the ranking, Solomon, in the 4th round and drawing in the last round against the number two, Seletsky.
