CSB 1 wins the regional phase of the CIS U16

On Sunday 28 September 2014 the regional phase of the Italian Under 16 Team Championship took place, with qualification for the national phase in Grosseto (30 October - 2 November) at stake. 5 rounds of 30 minutes were played. Overall participation in the event was rather thin, with a total of 8 teams taking part, representing only 3 clubs in the Region (Club 64 of Modena, Estense Ferrara and CSB of Bologna). There were 3 teams from Club 64 (the organising club), 3 from CS Estense of Ferrara and 2 from CSB of Bologna. Under the national regulations, with 8 teams in total, the top 3 overall earned a place in the national final in Grosseto. The national final was reached by CSB 1 of Bologna, by Club 64's Chess & Life and by Club 64 Junior. The tournament was won with 9 points out of 10 by the CSB's number 1 seed team (Mirri, Marzocchi, Sangiorgi R. and Mucci). Second overall (8 out of 10), after an excellent tournament, was Club 64's Chess & Life team (Cassanelli, Ballotti L., Melotti, Hodo Dionis and Giuntini) and third overall the Club 64 Junior team (Ballista, Wang, Faglioni, Venturelli E. and Marinelli Sofia). The prize reserved for the top team with an average Elo below 1500 went to the Moschettieri team from Ferrara, which also finished fourth overall. Thanks to the many volunteers present during the day for the success of the event (arbiters Mancini and Sfera Antonio and helpers Di Trapani, Ballista, Sfera Mattia and Dentale).
