"Chess in Literature" - by Claudio Ruggerini

Club member Claudio Ruggerini has written a thorough and highly interesting work on the "Bibliography of the origins of chess in Europe up to the eighteenth century". It is with great pleasure that we highlight it and give it visibility for all our enthusiast friends. The research set out to gather the widest possible bibliography relating to the game of chess, from the first documents that appeared in European countries up to the end of the eighteenth century, with complete or partial transcription of the original texts. From the nineteenth century to the present day the literature is endless and would require a separate treatment. It is therefore not a
study of the history of chess in Europe; for that
dimension the reader is referred to the far more in-depth analyses of scholars.
