Sofia Marinelli at the European Youth Championship
The very young Sofia Marinelli (born 2005), daughter of Club 64 board member Gian Marco Marinelli and of WGM Olga Zimina, will be competing from Sunday 29 September to Tuesday 8 October at the 2013 European Youth Championship in Montenegro. Sofia will represent Italy in the girls' under-8 category by virtue of the second place overall she won at the national youth finals in Courmayeur, held as is traditional in the first week of July. It is a great satisfaction for our association to see one of our very young representatives competing in the Italian colours in such an important competition of such high technical standard. Sofia seems set to take over the baton from the multi-titled Elisa Chiarion, who can boast numerous Italian youth titles and who on several occasions has represented Italy at the World and European Youth Championships.
