Second International Arbiter norm for Gabriele Franchini
Yet another great satisfaction for Gabriele Franchini from Eastern Europe, specifically from the First Saturday in Budapest. The tournament that has seen him compete in numerous editions as a player is bringing him great satisfaction and deserved recognition from the arbiting point of view too. Gabriele has in fact achieved his second International Arbiter norm, ratified and validated by International Arbiter Orso Miklos, for years chief arbiter of the First Saturday with enormous experience behind him, as well as one of the few arbiters in the world to also hold the title of International Master at the board. Gabriele's arbiting career has been truly meteoric, considering that he qualified as a Regional Arbiter only last January. His perfect command of English and his title of FIDE Master at the board certainly played an important role. At the just-concluded November First Saturday, in the GM group, the two youth world champions from Maribor, Kayden Troff (USA - U14) and Samuel Sevian (USA - U12), were also present. Warmest congratulations to Gabriele!
