Historic 2nd place for the Momo at the CIS U16 national final
Club 64 had never finished so high at the CIS U16 national finals, this year held in nearby Cesenatico. The Momo team, made up of Francesco Ferraguti, Luca Tazzioli, Davide Carletti and Massimiliano Ballista, achieved a historic second place and became Italian vice-champions behind Scacchistica Torinese. The top three teams finished the tournament level, with 10 team points out of 12, and the tie-break on individual points determined the final podium standings. The final result is all the more valuable given that no fewer than 34 teams from all over Italy were present. The Momo finished the tournament unbeaten, with 4 wins and 2 draws. Club 64 was represented by 2 other teams of very young chess players (the Young Boys with Wang, Faglioni and the Trenti brothers, and Club 64 Giovani with the Venturelli brothers, Becchi and Melotti), who performed well in the national final. Congratulations on this historic and deserved result to our youngsters and to the families who, with great willingness and passion, have accompanied them towards this success from afar and well before this thrilling trip.
