Elisa Chiarion third at the 2013 Italian women's championship and U18 champion
The 2013 Italian women's championship, which also awarded the U18 and U20 titles, has just ended in Porto San Giorgio. There were 25 participants, 7 of them of master category. Our Elisa Chiarion, after a masterly tournament in which she was in the lead until the last round, finished in third place overall and became Italian U18 champion, a few days before her eighteenth birthday. Maria Grazia De Rosa won the tournament for the third time, finishing half a point ahead of Tea Gueci and Elisa Chiarion (both on 6). De Rosa took advantage of a dip by Elisa in the final part of the tournament, in which she scored only half a point out of 3 in the last 3 rounds. A real pity, because after the first 6 rounds Elisa was leading the tournament alone with a full point's advantage over second place and had already beaten De Rosa in their direct encounter. In any case, warmest congratulations to Elisa, who has amply shown she can aspire to the overall Italian title.
