Chess and mathematics

On Sunday 12 May an important open-air initiative to promote the learning of mathematics among young people took place in the main square in Rubiera. The event was organised by the Municipality of Rubiera, which decided to include in the day's programme a significant slot dedicated to chess, the teaching of which can also significantly increase the ability to learn mathematics, as shown by a recent study by INVALSI (the National Institute for the Evaluation of the Education and Training System). The Municipality contacted our association and asked for the collaboration of Club 64, represented on the occasion by board member Marco Benincasa. Marco accompanied and guided many youngsters during the morning with the help of giant chess sets and pieces in the square, and continued in the afternoon by making himself available to the many enthusiasts. The initiative was particularly appreciated by the parents of the children present and by the representatives of the municipal administration.
