Vignola calls, Rome answers

This year two extraordinary cities have twinned, symbolically joining their tournaments to boost the competitive spirit typical of every chess player. Thus the Golden Slam was born, which will allow players to compete taking into account the points scored in both tournaments.

Vignola Città degli Scacchi on 10, 11 and 12 November 2017 and
Roma Città Aperta from 3 to 10 December 2017

How does the Golden Slam work?

Players who have taken part in both tournaments in the same group A, B or C will compete for a valuable additional prize awarded according to the following criteria:

The player who has scored the highest number of points in the two tournaments
In the event of a tie, the Buchholz points of both tournaments will be added together
In the event of a further tie, the Elo points held in Vignola and in Rome will be added together
In the event of a further tie, a coin will be tossed
