Artem Gilevych wins the 15th Vignola weekend
The 15th "Città di Vignola" weekend festival concluded on Sunday 13 November. The event's participation record was beaten with 67 attendances in total (37 in tournament A and 30 in tournament B), showing that the traditional mid-November appointment has by now carved out a role of prime importance among the Region's annual tournaments. FIDE Master Artem Gilevych from Bologna, a devotee of the tournament and already winner of previous editions, repeated his 2015 success and won the tournament outright with 4.5 points out of 5. Second overall was Master Boris Begelman from Bologna, who on tie-break finished ahead of the young CM Luca Tazzioli, who took the lowest step of the podium. Fourth overall Roberto Setti and fifth overall FIDE Master Andrea Malfagia, also a winner of numerous past editions of the tournament. Tournament B was won on tie-break by the very young Dionis Hodo, ahead of Riccardo Campani (both unbeaten with 4.5 points out of 5), with the very young home player Anastasia Sfera third overall. During the prize-giving ceremony Club 64 presented, "as a surprise", a scholarship reserved for unrated players to the young Hodo Dionis, rewarded as one of the best and most assiduous players of the association in recent years. The hope is to see Dionis move up a category soon, hoping that the scholarship made available can contribute. Sincere thanks to the Laghetto dei Ciliegi, which has hosted the tournament for years, providing an excellent and comfortable playing hall. Thanks also to the impeccable and ever-present arbiters Angelo Mancini, Antonio Sfera and Fabrizio Ballotti.
