Modena 2 secures safety in the CIS Serie A1 group gathering
Club 64's second team (Petkov, Franchini, Barillaro, Frigieri and Vincenzi) secured comfortable safety in the 2013 CIS group gathering in Arzignano, in Serie A1. An excellent opening draw against Bologna (who would go on to win the group and earn promotion to the Master division), a win against Trento in the second round, a quick draw against Reggio Emilia in the third round, a narrow defeat against Arzignano in the fourth round and a draw in the last round against Chioggia, already relegated. The gathering took place in a spirit of the utmost sportsmanship among the various teams involved, under the excellent guidance of FIDE Arbiter Carlo Callegher. Bologna will keep Club 64's first team company in the Master division in 2014, hoping it stays up in the 2013 Master division. Relegated to Serie A2 are Chioggia and Reggio Emilia, beaten in the last round by Trento in the relegation decider.
